So now almost a full year after the trade of Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell, and the day after Sanchez' no-hitter, do you or do you not want a do-over?
Ramirez has been better than I thought he'd be, especially this year. One no-hitter in half a season as a starter looks impressive but doesn't a career make.
Lowell has been much better than we could have hoped he'd be, and Beckett has been a disappointment compared to his past and expectations.
My vote: If Lowell's gone after this year and Beckett remains inconsistent, I want a do-over and take my chances with the still largely unproven youngsters; but who's to say that next year and beyond Beckett doesn't return to his old form or, better yet, lives up to his promise and the kids don't fully pan out.

Well first off I dont' think Lowell has played better than I could have hoped, I'd say rather he did exactly what I expected him to. He had the one bad year, but you look at his career numbers and this season is in line with them. Just as one good season doesn't a carreer make, one bad one doesn't a has been make.
As for Rameriz, I'd actually hold out and see what Gonzalez pans out like. If they sign him to a new contract, I'm happy, if not, I'm wishing we had Hanley back. I just don't see Pedroia as an SS. I know this isn't going to happen, but damn I wish Epstein would stop fuckin around and just sign the guys that are free agents. Pay Nixon what he wants, he's worth every cent, keep a squad together for more than one season, see how that works instead of this constant reconstruction.
As for Beckett, I need another season to pass judgement, he's only 26 years old. He's still young and inconsistancy comes with youth. Pedro didn't become Pedro until he was nearly 30. When he dominated in '99 he was 27. No I don't think Beckett will be as good as Pedro, but my point is that inspite of his past successes, he's still young and has a lot of good years to go. I'm not ready to write him off yet.
