2013 Red Sox Rewind

My opening has very little to do with the point of this post -- call it two thoughts in one, only slightly connected.  Maybe after this season, winning a third title in 10 years, I can manage to become the kind of fan who watches the games (those that truly mean something, something on the line) without tying myself in knots, to the point where I have to turn away sometimes.  It was no different throughout these playoffs.  The 2004 and 2007 World Series were "easy" once we got through game 1 because they ended up being sweeps.  But I found myself watching this year with much the same tension and feeling of impending catastrophe just as if those championships had never happened (what the hell is wrong with me?!)  Even in game 6 with a 3-2 series lead and a 6-0 score there were periods that I couldn't watch -- early on before we put runs on the board and then around the 6th inning when it was 6-1 but the Cardinals had the bases loaded.
I dunno...maybe it's in part due to this:  I was telling someone just the other day that that Patriot season where they completely dominated, went undefeated and yet lost the Super Bowl plays a part in my not being able to shake this disease.  I can't wait for next year though.

Anyway, I wanted to share something with you from NESN that came across my Facebook feed.  The first is a link to a short article describing the season and acts as an intro to another link which takes you to videos of 10 defining moments of the 2013 Red Sox season.  It's a great way to relive this now that there's no dread it'll explode in some typically dreadful and heartwrenching pre2004-Red-Sox way.  Enjoy.

PS  You wanna know what separates Sox fans from the rest?  Look at clip number 3 and notice there's no empty seats at 1AM in the 11th inning at Fenway.

Again, congrats on the win.

I can't picture SoCal fans remaining at a game in such large numbers for anything. Gotta beat traffic!

I'm kidding, I think.
